Looking for: Graduate with a disability and ambition! Offer: Traineeship/ study at a development NGO in the Netherlands
Dark & Light is a Christian organisation which commits to programmes for persons with disabilities in Africa and Asia. We support partner organisations that are working on eye care, rehabilitation, inclusive education and lobby for the rights of disabled persons. In addition to this direct support, we help other NGOs and their partners to make their policies and programmes inclusive for persons with disabilities.
For the programme department, we are currently looking for a person who is interested to work as a trainee at Dark & Light in 2011, for the period of one year, in the position of Assistant Programme Coordinator. At the same time, the trainee will follow the study ‘Advanced Master International Development’ (AMID) at the Radboud University Nijmegen. A job description will be developed in consultation with the trainee, but it will contain at least the following activities:
- Supporting the daily tasks of the Programme Coordinators
- Writing policies and policy papers
- Assessing reports and applications from partner organisations
- Knowledge management
- Supporting the Mainstreaming Disability Programme
Applications for AMID 2011 have to be submitted in the beginning of September. For that reason, Dark & Light would like to select a candidate before 25 August 2010. Possibly, this traineeship could be preceded by an internship from October to December 2010.
Profile:
- Graduate with a University-level Master in the area of development studies, international relations, disability studies or another relevant study;
- 3-6 months work experience in a developing country;
- Between 20 and 30 years old;
- Good proficiency in English;
- Affinity with Christian views;
- Able to work independently as well as in a team;
- Our strong preference goes to someone with a disability.
