|
Organisation mission statement Krousar Thmey provides deprived children with material, educational and social support in harmony with their environment and respectfully to their traditions and beliefs. This assistance tends to guide these children towards a responsible adult life without creating privilege or dependency.
Target group Blind children with school age and who live in Kompong Cham province.
Project purpose The purpose of this project is to provide blind children living in Kampong Cham province with an education adapted to their handicap and recognized by the Ministry of Education. The aim is to contribute to the reintegration of blind children in Khmer society by schooling them together with sighted pupils.
Targets Description
- 88 blind children follow National Curriculum and participate in school activities at Krousar Thmey school from
January to July 2010.
- 63 blind children are integrated into public schools; they attend classes half-day at public school and another
half-day at Krousar Thmey from January to July 2010.
- 55 low vision students at Krousar Thmey school.
- 16 grade 1 students (65%) pass their exams in July and go up to grade 2.
- 13 grade 2 students (95%) pass their exams in July and go up to grade 3.
- 9 grade 3 students (100%) pass their exams in July and go up to grade 4.
- 10 grade 4 students (100%) pass their exams in July and go up to grade 5.
- 14 grade 5 students (100%) pass their exams in July and go up to grade 6.
- 4 grade 6 students (100%) pass their exams in July and go up to grade 7.
- 10 grade 7 students (100%) pass their examsin July and go up to grade 8.
- 12 grade 8 students (100%) pass their exams and go up to grade 9.
- 5 new blind children are registered in October 2010 for the new school year.
- 5 new children attend a medical check-up after the first months of their arrival.
- 93 blind children follow National Curriculum and participate in school activities at Krousar Thmey school from
October 2010.
- 73 blind children are integrated into public schools; they attend classes part-time at Krousar Thmey and part-time
at the public school from October 2010.
- 58 low vision students at Krousar Thmey school from October 2010.
- 11 Referred 11 children with visual impairment to their home village.
