Organisation mission statement Our mission is to remove the obstacles that prevent blind Filipinos from reaching the fullest potential that God has for them in life and ministry.
Target group Blind/ Visually impaired children and adults in the central Philippines
Project purpose Cebu City is the second largest city in the Philippines. Because of its geographical setting and location being the hub of the central Philippines, we want to continually coordinate, supply and deliver our programs for blind/ visually impaired people in this region from Cebu City (Teacher training program, eye surgery and primary eye care training programs, rehab program, parent training program, the school administrator training program, computer training program, Bible study program and other programs that may be developed). We also want to foster and strengthen the point of contact that we have already been able to establish in Cebu for the last 6 years for anyone needing our services, or wanting to support our programs.
Targets Description
- 2,750 Visits at our office by blind/ visually impaired and sighted individuals.
- 400,000 The peso amount of sales from adapted materials purchased at our office.
- 175 Recipients of pieces/Sets/Volumes of Scriptures/Religious literatures in Braille, large print and cassette.
- 30 Public school teachers to undergo training on special education (SPED) for blind/ visually impaired- 10 in
the new batch and 20 for the returning and finishing batch.
- 15 Principals of the newly trained teachers (and previously trained teachers with inactive program due to
lack of administrative support) to attend a 2-day orientation on SPED.
- 123 The number of teachers visited at least once during the year.
- 592 Total enrolment of blind/ visually impaired students per school-year.
- 20 Blind adults in the rehab program.
- 400 Adult's eyes to undergo surgery.
- 20 Children's eyes to undergo surgery.
- 50 Multihandicapped blind (MHB) children to be assessed and provided with services or therapy.
- 40 Visually impaired students brought to eye doctor for initial eye examination.
- 110 Parents of blind/ visually impaired children to attend a 3-day parent workshop.
- 20 Students and adults with low vision.
- 15 Optical/non optical low vision devices and eyeglasses.
- 50 Blind/ visually impaired and/ or other stakeholders to undergo computer training.
- 10,000 Braille pages of textbooks, study notes and other reading materials.
- 1,200 Overnight guests accommodated at the guest house per year.
- 100 Students with visual impairment in elementary, high school and college attending sessions on counseling program and spiritual development.
- 1,500 Community health workers (CHWs) to undergo PEC training.
