Organisation mission statement Dedicated to eliminating avoidable blindness and improving the quality of life of people with visual impairment in the poorest and least served communities in developing countries.
Target group Direct: Children with disabilities (Visually impaired, the physically handicapped, hearing impaired and the mentally challenged. Indirect: Parents and communities living with children who have disabilities, teachers at the mainstream primary schools, NGOs and the GoSS personnel at national and state levels.
Project purpose To support education for ALL with emphasis to reinforcing equal access of children with special needs into mainstream quality education.
Targets Description
- 1 Functional IE coordination unit in Juba will have been found and fully equipped with necessary facilities to
provide quality programme support to stakeholders and partners during the programme period.
- 5 R&R flight return visits Juba/Nairobi will have been made by the Coordinator IE Sudan.
- 30 Personnel capacities in MoEST Special Needs Education Section at GoSS and 4 States will have been
enhanced through 2 workshops in policy review and capacity building by the end of 2010.
- 35 Development partners in education with MoEST; capacities on mainstreaming IE activities in their specific
education programmes plans will have been enhanced by the end of 2010.
- 3 IE monitoring visits will have been undertaken with MoEST personnel to the states (Central Equatorial,
Wastern Equatorial and Jongolei) Yei, Mundri, Bor Counties, by the end of 2010.
- 4 IE programme coordination meetings will have been held in Juba with participation of IE implementing
organisations (Across,SEM,C&D, ICCO rep organisations).
- 4 Cross sector collaboration & lobbying meetings will have been held to make IE programme in Sudan visible at
the most relevant government and development thematic and educational forums in Juba and its environs by the end of 2010.
- 5 Technical support and project supervision follow up visits/tasks will have been done by the programme
coordinator IE at project areas in Yei, Mundri, Mewut, Nasir and Bor Counties by the end of 2010.
- 4 Major programme reports (2 quarterly 1 mid year 1 annual reports) will have been facilitated and submitted to
relevant institutions and bodies where applicable as a summary of the actual programme position by the end of 2010.
- 20 Members of a team at the University of Juba will have been sensitised through a review forum aimed at
launching a resource Centre for training teachers and tutors on IE/SNE for children with special needs at the University of Juba by the end of 2010.
- 30 Members of MoEST, UNICEF, NGO’s and professionals will have have been sensitised to review, adapt,
and endorse an inclusive Teacher Training Institution’s curriculum friendly to IE concepts and teaching.
