Organisation mission statement CBR Effata aims to create awareness and take care of the basic needs of the less privilaged in Ebonyi State, especially rehabilitation for the disabled persons and referral of people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Target group All the visually, physically, hearing impaired children and adul tin Izzi and neighbouring areas. We focus on medical care, preventive care, rehabilitation, education and vocational trainings. Consultation will be around 4500 and operation around 450 patients; female and male in equal numbers.
Project purpose The project intend to reduce number of visually, physicall and hearing impaired persons through prevention, awareness and treatment. The project aims to train and rehabilitate the disabled children and adults.
Targets Description
- 4500 patients consulted in the 10 outreach stations, during the visit of the eye doctor and in the eye clinic of CBR
Effata.while 100 persons will be assited both vocational and educationally through the vocational training unit of the program.
- 450 Patients operated by eye doctor of which 220 are cataracts.
- 900 eye glasses sold to clients in need. Reading glasses as well as minus glasses; some are produced in our eye
clinic.
- 40 villages received Mectizan to prevent river blindness. This in cooperation with the government.
- 5 primary schools visited for awareness and early detection. In each school, one teacher must be trained to
detect Low Vision and refer problems to in time.
- 42 clients visited at home for counselling and follow up. We also ask clients to take his or her own responsibility
to come for check up.
- 20 clients visited at home for OM.
- 20 clients referred to vocational training unit by the eye Care unit for educational or vocational assistance.
- 1 staff for further training by ECWA, Kano, 2 staff to start training on CHEW and B.sc. 6 workshops for all
staff and every week tutorials and evaluations.
