Target group Patients requiring sight restoring and preserving surgeries. Resident doctors in training. Trainers of resident doctors.
Purpose In the long term, Ophthalmologists are able to provide comprehensive eye care services. Ophthalmologists are able to meet the changing challenges of avoidable blindness. Patients are able to get excellent eye care services.
Targets Description
- 1000 sight restoring and preserving surgeries are performed by the end of the year, 500 of these are subsidised.
- 4 Resident doctors acquire district level experience at a district eye hospital providing community service.
- Tertiary eye unit is developed for comprehensive eye care service.
- Train one Ophthamologist in Glaucoma sub-specialty.
- Train one ophthalmologist in Vitreoretinal surgery.
- Develop one eye unit in a comprehensive health centre.
