Organisation mission statement
The mission of Salu, ENOVIB and its member organizations is to achieve full social inclusion of the blind and
persons with other disabilities, through the promotion of their rights, equal participation and access to opportunities
and services.

Target group

• Salu's primary target groups are mainly the blind and visually impaired who make up more than eighty-five percent of the beneficiaries of its projects
• The primary target groups who benefit from the vocational skills training and rehabilitation program every year make up 200 visually and physically impaired persons in the three project areas of Addis Ababa, Shashamane and Awassa.
• Once they are reintegrated into the community through SSHBHA's vocational skills training and rehabilitation program, they are intended to support not only themselves but further sustain the livelihoods of their households, each one presumably consisting of an average of 5 family members. The later could be considered as the secondary beneficiaries or target groups.

Project purpose

• To enable Salu conduct more effective public advocacy activities by raising public awareness on the rights, opportunities and social inclusion of PWDs;
• To increase in the areas of vocational skills trainings for PWDs;
• To create means of business sustainability for the graduates of Salu’s vocational skills trainings.

Targets Description

• 1 At the end of the project year, the UNCRPD ratified by the Ethiopian Government
• 1500 At the end of the project year, 9 awareness sessions conducted for 1,500 participants in the three project
• 120 At the end of the project year, 4 Basic Business Skills training conducted for120 trainees
• 10 At the end of the project year, 10 Persons with Disabilities trained in Leather works in Addis Ababa
• 1 At the end of the project year, 10 Persons with Disabilities trained in Bamboo crafts in Awassa
• 3 Monitoring and follow-up visits
