Organisation mission statement The purpose of SERVE is to express God's love and build hope by serving the people of Afghanistan, especially the needy as we seek to help them address their personal, social and environmental needs.
Target group Disabled people in Afghanistan, most of them living in rural communities. SERVE EMAD focuses its work on visually, hearing and movement impaired as well as work among people with mental challenges as well as People with Special Needs Communities at risk of contracting avoidable disabilities. Communities within which the disabled live to urge, train and prepare them to allow disabled to partake in all aspect of community.
Project purpose The ensure provision of training, devices and suitable techniques within SERVE EMAD's target areas to enable proper education, training and integration of visually impaired people.
Targets Description
- 135 SERVE EMAD will work with visually impaired 98 and Low vision 37 students in total in 2008.
- 70 Visually impaired students will follow inclusive education in mainstream schools with coaching and support
from SERVE EMAD.
- 31 Low vision students will follow inclusive education in mainstream schools with coaching and support from
SERVE EMAD.
- 10 Visually impaired students will be attending an early intervention program run by SERVE EMAD.
- 8 Visually impaired students will be attending a pre braille program run by SERVE EMAD.
- 10 Visually impaired students will be attending a pre school program run by SERVE EMAD.
- 6 Low Vision students will be attending a pre school program run by SERVE EMAD.
- 12 EMAD Volunteers will be conducting mobility training. CBR adult clients will receive Mobility & Orientation
skills, Social skills, Vocational skills, Daily living skill training from volunteers and field staff
- 900 Copying and recording of Talking text Books
- 280 Government teachers and teacher students trained
- 82 Volunteers and CBR staff trained in Mobility and Orientation
- 21 Clients placed in jobs (cow keeping and shop keeping)
